The South Georgia Judicial Circuit is located in the Second Judicial Administrative District and is comprised of five counties - Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Grady and Mitchell.

There are two judges for the Circuit - Chief Judge A. Wallace Cato whose office is located in Bainbridge, Decatur County, and Judge J. Kevin Chason, whose office is located in Cairo, Grady County.

The monthly court itinerary is issued annually and may be viewed or downloaded.

Civil and criminal hearing day calendars, as well as civil calendar calls and civil and criminal trial calendars, will be posted and may be viewed or downloaded.

Beginning January, 2007, significant changes in the law have been made in the way cases involving child support are processed by the courts. Special attention should be given to the changes to USCR 24.2 and this Circuit's Standing Order requirements.

Effective January 1, 2008, O.C.G.A. 19-9-1 requires all cases involving permanent custody or custody modification to submit a Parenting Plan to the court. The Council of Superior Court Judges, at its January, 2008 meeting, adopted and passed Uniform Superior Court Rule 24.10, which is to be submitted to the Supreme Court of Georgia for approval. Until formal approval by the Supreme Court, the requirements of O.C.G.A. 19-9-1 shall prevail on any and all parenting plans submitted to the court. You may use the general format of the proposed USCR 24.10.
